About the CED

The Canadian English Dictionary is a project being planned by a consortium led by Editors Canada, with the participation of the Canadian English Lab at UBC and the Strathy Language Unit at Queen’s University.

It will be a general dictionary for contemporary Canadian English-speakers, reflecting all the different ways in which our language is written and spoken across the country. It will be published progressively in digital form beginning in 2024, and when the digital edition is initially complete, there will be a print edition.

Funding for the project will come from a variety of sources, including donations, grants, sales, licensing and subscriptions.
